One Day Workshop on the Draft State Environment Policy 

A one day workshop on the Group- Wise Sector Specific discussion on the Draft State Environment policy was held on 15th December’2017 at The Fern An Ecotel Hotel. Dr. Sanjiv Tyagi, Director, GEMI welcomed the Chief Guests and all the participants gathered in the workshop. The Workshop was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Shri Kuldeep Goel, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Head of Forest Force and Shri G. K. Sinha, IFS, principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Wildlife was the Guest of Honor. The Workshop was held to discuss group-wise the Key Issues and Strategies of specific sectors of Environment. The discussion was carried out by the different Sector Specific Working Groups which comprised of the Chairman, Members of the group and the Coordinator. The following are the Key Issues and Strategies that were incorporated into the policy:

  1. Natural Resources including Forests & Wildlife
  2. Wetlands
  3. Biodiversity
  4. Water Pollution
  5. Air Pollution
  6. Soil /Land Pollution
  7. Municipal Waste, Plastic Waste, Construction Waste & e-waste
  8. Hazardous and Other Waste
  9. Radiation & Noise Pollution
  10.  Marine & Coastal Pollution
  11.  Health Issues
  12. Transport
  13. Mining & Quarrying
  14. Climate Change
  15. Renewable Energy
  16. R & D
  17. Gender Sensitization & Child Issue
  18. Environment Education & Awareness
  19. Capacity Building & CSR Activities

The suggestions/ recommendations/ further modifications received during the workshop have been compiled and the policy shall be modified accordingly. The Workshop ended with the vote of thanks to all the participants for their valuable feedbacks and making the workshop successful and workable.
